Swiss Vignette 2026–2027: Everything You Need to Know
The Swiss Autobahnvignette is mandatory for all passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes using national roads in Switzerland. Since 2024, it is available exclusively as an electronic vignette — no physical sticker is issued.

Switzerland operates a single annual vignette — there is no 1-day, weekly or monthly option.
The official government fee is CHF 40 (~€43.40), set by the Federal Customs and Border Security Office (BAZG). Registration through Vignette Express includes secure online processing and instant activation in the official EZV database.

Which Roads Require the Vignette?
All Swiss motorways marked with green signs and the letter A require the vignette:
- A1 — Geneva to St. Margrethen (main east-west corridor)
- A2 — Basel to Chiasso (north-south, through Alps)
- A3 — Basel to Chur (Rhine valley)
- A9 — Lausanne to Brig (Valais route)
City streets, cantonal roads (yellow signs), and local access roads do not require a vignette.

Penalties
Driving without a valid vignette on Swiss national roads results in an on-the-spot fine of CHF 200, plus you will be required to purchase the vignette on the spot.
